Putin: peace on Earth depends on Russia-U.S. relations

Russian President Vladimir Putin received letters of credence from 23 newly-appointed foreign ambassadors, including John Sullivan of the U.S.

Speaking at a ceremony, which was held in the Grand Kremlin Palace’s Alexander Hall, he said that Russia-U.S. relations should be based on the principles of equality and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.

Peace and security on the planet depend on these relations, on "their stability and predictability," the head of state noted.

Putin is convinced that they should be based "on the principles of equality, respect for sovereignty and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs."

The president also announced Russia's readiness for dialogue with the United States. "We are ready for a meaningful dialogue with the American side, including in arms control and strategic stability issues, in the fight against terrorism and the peaceful settlement of regional crises," TASS cited him as saying.
